3D Shapes

This function allows you to draw a 3D cone or truncated cone, with user-defined base radius, top radius and height, using an advanced form of the polygon mesh.

Mesh entities are always drawn with CONTINUOUS line type.

Procedure

  1. You are prompted to:

You can set the base radius, top radius and height of the cone, as well as the number of segments on the circles.

  1. Indicate the centre point of the base of the cone.

  1. In the example below, the view has changed to an Isometric view. If you apply smooth shading in the Render view, the cone displays as below.

The example above illustrates a truncated cone.

To create a standard cone, specify the Top radius as zero.

  1. The number of segments (Segs X) determines how smooth the surface of the conical shape is, as each segment is a flat surface. In the example below, the number of segments has been set to 16 with a resultant deterioration in the smoothness of the surface.
