Drawing Settings

Configure the paper size, units, scale and coordinate system of a drawing.

Settings

This function allows you to edit the drawing settings such as paper size, scale, units, coordinates and angular settings.

Procedure

  1. The Drawing Settings display. You can now edit the settings as required.

  1. Select the paper size and orientation for the current layout in the Paper Size section. Click on the dropdown arrow and select the required paper size.

  1. You can also set the paper layout to be Portrait or Landscape. The preview updates to show the layout you have selected.

  2. Select the scale Type from the dropdown list.

  1. You can set the paper units by selecting the units you require from the dropdown list.

  1. You can change the Drawing units measurement by clicking in the Text Box and typing in the required measurement.   

  1. Alternatively, click the units button to display the Units option window. You can now select the drawing units and area units.  

If you choose to use User defined units, the Options text section becomes active and you can input your required units.

Click OK to continue with your selection; or Cancel to clear your selection.

  1. You can change the Scale ratio by clicking in the associated textbox and typing in the required scale.

If you click the calculator icon the calculator opens so you can calculate the scale if required.

When you click =, the calculated measurement is inserted in the Scale ratio textbox.  

  1. Use the radio buttons to indicate the Cartesian or Surveyor coordinate system.

When the Surveyor coordinate system is selected, the Surveyor Setup button becomes active.  Click Surveyor Setup to display the Surveyor Settings, where you can set the Surveyor origin, Co-ordinate order and Hemisphere.

Click OK for the settings to take effect; or Cancel to exit the Surveyor Settings.

  1. You can set the Angular format by clicking the Angular format button.

You can set the Angular Units and number of decimal places. The angular format is set differently for Cartesian and Surveyor modes. The Cartesian default gas Zero Point is set at 3 O'clock and is measured in a counter clockwise direction, as shown below.

The Surveyor default Zero Point is set at 6 O'clock and is measured in a clockwise direction in the Southern Hemisphere, as shown below.

Click OK for the settings to take effect; or Cancel to exit the Angular Format Settings.

  1. Select the Set as default checkbox if you want these settings to become your default settings, and be active every time AllyCAD is opened.

  1. Click OK to initiate the changes you have made; or Cancel to close the Drawing Settings and return to the default settings.
