Modify

This function allows you to join two line entities into one entity by indicating the first line entity near the end to remove and then the second line entity near the end to remove. The two line entities are then joined into one.

Procedure

To join two line entities into one entity:

  1. Select Modify ► Join Lines or click the icon in the Modify toolbar.

  2. You are prompted to:

Indicate first line to join (Click near end point to remove)

Three examples are shown with different ends remaining fixed. In this example ends "A" and "B" will remain fixed.

  1. Position the cursor near the first line at the end to remove, and then press [Enter] or click. The line is highlighted.

  1. You are prompted to:

Indicate second line to join (Click near end point to remove)

  1. Position the cursor near the second line at the end to remove and then press [Enter] or click.

  1. The two lines are joined from A to B.

  1. The function repeats. Right-click and select Quit to end the function. Alternatively, press [Esc].

  1. If you now indicate near ends "A" and "B", the fixed ends would be at "C" and "D", giving you the following result.

Indicate near end "B" and end "C" and ends "A" and "D' will remain fixed. The line will slope between points "A" and "D".
