Tutorial 4 - Cargo Tracking

This function allows you to simulate a vehicle with a cargo that extends beyond the body of the vehicle. The cargo’s limits can be specified, and are tracked when running the next simulation.

In this tutorial you will learn how to:

Edit the Setup

  1. Select Turn ► Setup, or click the Setup icon on the Turn toolbar. The Turn Setup window displays.

Cargo tracking can also be done in conjunction with any simulation type (i.e. Track Path, or Swept Path).

Specify the Cargo Limits

  1. Click Designer to display the Cargo Point Tracking options.

  1. A diagram of the active vehicle is drawn in the view area of the window.

  1. The cargo that you simulate is situated on the first trailer, and extends 1.5 m beyond the front axle of the tractor.

  2. Select the Trailer 1 radio button in the Cargo Location group.

  1. The first trailer is highlighted in a cyan pen.

  2. Enter the H-Coord as “1.2”, which indicates that the cargo is situated on the right hand side of the trailer.

  3. Enter the V-Coord as “–1.5”, which means that the cargo is situated 1.5 m in front of the tractor’s front axle.

You can also indicate the cargo position using your mouse, as well as jumping to the nearest point by pressing [J].

  1. A red circle indicates the cargo position.

  2. Click OK to return to the Setup, and then click OK again to close the Setup.

Track the Cargo Limits

Define the correct track path as in Tutorial 2.

  1. Select Turn ► Run Simulation, or click the Run Simulation icon on the Turn toolbar.

  1. The vehicle moves along the track path and leaves behind a line, which represents the position of the defined cargo position along the path. The simulation results display automatically when the run is complete.
